Coffee table "marcuso"
designed by marco zanuso, winner of five gold compass between 1956 and 1985. Its design can be admired in many world -renowned museums, such as moma in new york, the triennale museum in milan, and the arflex museum .
produced by zanotta in the 1960s, the "marcuso" table is made up of two shelves and 18/8 stainless steel legs combined with the anthracite -colored crystal top.
the marcuso table was born in 1969 as a result of an ideal mix of research and innovation. In fact, for the first time in the creation of a table, an advanced technique of the automotive industry was used \. That of fixing crystal and stainless steel.
the idea was born in aurelio zanotta, observing the defectors of the cars: simple nights glued to the crystal. He decided to apply the system to his production, entrusting the task to the most technologue of the architects-designers of those years: marco zanuso. Which found the solution to fix the steel legs to the crystal top: it was enough to glue it directly (with an unprecedented technique for those years, in which the glue was polymerized with ultraviolet rays) four stainless steel discs, threaded to theirs internal, and then screw your legs. A procedure that simplified both production and packaging.
marcuso represents one of the best examples of industrial design, the one in which research and passion shared between the producer, designer and technical office merge. So much so that in 2005 the famous critic of design pilar viladas wrote in the new york times style magazine that marcuso, in addition to being the piece he preferred among those designed by zanuso, had hit him for that innovative fixing system between the floor and legs: «it was this detail that made me focus carefully the first time i saw the table at an exhibition. And then i took the relationship between technology and aesthetics in modern industrial design \. It is something that has to do with a special "verve" of the modern and which is basically one of italy's greatest contributions to the world of design ".
