Consequently, the distinctive drum form base and seat were frequently bisected by figures and faces, such as the double-sided face seen in this stool. Hand-carved from a single piece of wood, the stool's two faces, incised rope motifs, and nail-studded surface combine for a unique sculptural presence. See less
