Antique French Pier Mantel Wall Mirror Black Forest Barley Twist Carved Oak Stag.
Direct from France, a gorgeous hand carved 19th century French pier/mantel mirror, over 6 ft. tall with outstanding detail!!
The details reveal it was probably commissioned for an aristocrat’s hunting lodge, circa 1880, and carved in the Black Forest region of Europe, where France, Germany and Switzerland meet.
The ornate crown features carved, scalloped designs surrounding a dimensional carved stag head with antlers and meticulous details to the stag head. Upper frame panel includes more carvings and a center medallion with carved keystone corners above the full length barley twist columns on either side!!
Beveled edges on the large mirror and a superb display of artistic skill in the carvings, circa 1880.
Imagine this huge statement piece in a foyer or over mantel, in your home, hunting lodge or castle!
