Offering a beautifully shaped, elegantly decorated, perfect original condition French lighting bowl from the 20s. Yes, it’s now close to a hundred years old! The quality of the glass itself is very high (not all French lighting bowls were created equal!).
I bought this bowl in France (and it’s marked “Made in France” along the top of the rim, I might add) and have constructed the apparatus which you see holding it. The canopy I had cast in bronze from an original I bought in France (foreseeing the day when I would never find another). It’s one of my very favorite Art Deco designs, a take-off on a sunburst. The tubes are made of brass, and they and the bronze canopy have been plated with a brushed nickel finish, “jewelry for the home.” Please be aware that the glass, frosted "white," is otherwise colorless. The photography can give the impression of warmth, the result of the incandescent bulbs and the photographic aspects of the camera.
In this particular situation I’ve installed three candelabra sockets, each capable of hosting a 60-watt bulb. Clear, incandescent bulbs seem to look best, the filaments giving some sparkle to the clear places on the otherwise frosted glass.
An excellent lighting device which will give lots of light and exceptional beauty at the same time. Put it on a dimmer for a real “planetary show" at night!
Measurements: the overall drop is about 17 inches, the diameter of the bowl, 13 ¾.

Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
