moreBritish, R. Pollard & Sons, a set of (4) hand-colored engravings, dated 1822, of four fox hunting scenes, each identically matted and framed under glass. The scenes represent different stages of a hunt from releasing the hounds, galloping through fields, hounds on the scent and a successful hunt. They are lively and detailed prints with lovely hand painting. The framing is of excellent quality undertaken some time ago by a framing gallery in Hyannis, MA. The framing mats are a duck egg blue. The wooden frames are silvered.
Robert Pollard (1755-1838) was a painter, an engraver, and a print publisher. He was born at Newcastle-on-Tyne, England. He started his adult life working as a silversmith, became a landscape and marine painter, and by 1782 had established himself in London as an engraver and print seller. In the 1780s, he produced print plates and published prints, some based upon his own artworks and others based on the works of other popular artists. For his plates, he used a mixed style of line engraving, etching, and aquatint. In 1810, Robert Pollard sold his London publishing/printing business. In 1815, he opened a new business in the Holloway District of London, which he operated until 1828. The new business was called R. Pollard & Sons and concentrated on colored aquatints and sporting and coaching pictures that were created by his son. James Pollard (1792-1867), worked as an engraver and painter. In 1821 he exhibited a small number of his works. During the 1830's and 1840's he was known as a successful painter of mail coach, fox hunting, and equine scenes.

Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).
- On approved returns, the buyer is responsible for the full cost of return packing and shipping.
Cancellations
- Prior to shipping or local pickup, buyers may cancel an order for any reason, with the exception of some Made-to-Order items, where supplies have been purchased or work begun on the item.
- Please notify us within 24 hours of purchase if you would like to cancel an order, as prompt cancellation will reduce the likelihood that you will incur return shipping charges.
- Once shipping or pickup has been initiated, the cancellation will be considered a return and you will be responsible for the cost of shipping.
