Charming red chalk study of a woman from the First Empire period, 19th century. Study of a woman in elegant costume typical of the Napoleon I period, sitting on a chair and turned 3/4 to the right. She is wearing a dress and a headband forming a knot in her tied hair. The pencil line is light, a good control of the drawing is perceptible.
The sanguine is part of the earthy red pigment family which can be declined in orange, ochre and brown.
