Hand-carved wooden bear (Kibori Kuma). Typical carving of the indigenous Japanese people, the Ainu.
This bear is depicted with a just-caught salmon. The salmon is painted, which is not common for these sculptures.
The carving is dated (1974) and signed by the artist, Masayuki.
