In the best tradition of roadside Americana, this rare and wonderful pair of enormous ice cream signs scream fun. Making skilled use of the abbreviated commercial imagery that was later employed by the pop art movement, these signs have a similar deconstructed look. Painted on tin and nailed to their original painted wood frames. With their limited text and bold colors and shapes, these signs have a definite carnival art look and were likely used in that context.
