French artist Guy de Neyrac, 1900-1950, a modern impressionist, worked primarily in watercolor and pen and ink on paper, as well as occasionally in oils. He is known for depicting street scenes and landmarks of mid-20th century Paris. The subject of this particular example of de Neyrac's work, the Palace of Versailles, is not located in Paris but in Versailles, which is 12 miles outside of the capitol city. The centerpiece of the scene is one of the statues along one of the two fountain pools set amidst the huge gardens outside the palace.
