This vintage 2x10 Persian kilim runner is handwoven in wool, and originates circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
This design enjoys a deep aubergine purple with more vibrant red stripes and other complementary primary colors. There’s a rich brown accent in the background, too, though the deep purple is the more present undertone. Keen eyes will further admire the embroidery in many of the geometric patterns and its playful textural accent. It’s a very traditional runner that favors rich, deep colors and sharp geometry that Kilims are known for,
Connoisseurs will note that this piece has a twin in the same size range with nearly identical colors and patterns. All these elements, as well as their vertical borders, may indicate that they were once woven together. Both runners are available as individual pieces and as a pair upon enquiry.
Condition:
This runner further enjoys good condition for a mid-century Kilim. It’s ready for the floor, and its versatile size offers vast design applications to long, narrow spaces in particular.
