has among its ancestors the archbishop of milan, later known as pope paul vi.
the large oval canvas has a brown and red background, the latter shaped like a shield, in which six mountains
(from the etymology of the surname) and three white fleur de lis are painted.
this big scale palatial oil painting is housed in a newly made rectangular panel entirely covered with gold
leaves and framed by a simply moulded black lacquer frame.
this noble surname is prevalent in tuscany, rome and lombardy but has also spread abroad, in french and
english speaking territories with different declinations.
