Monica was inspired by the colors … Read more "Birds Singing" is a bright and colorful abstract expressionist oil painting by Monica Shulman. Monica was inspired by the colors and light of late summer and early fall in the Hudson Valley where she lives and works. Monica is an intuitive painter who uses which ever medium will best help her express her ideas and in this piece she explores the various shades and values found in nature by using texture and layers with oil paint. The painting has a musical feeling to it which is what inspired the name of the name. Monica often sees murmurations of birds flying over the Hudson River outside her studio window. Punctuating her rhythmic, gestural marks with varying shades of pink, teal, blue, purple and yellow, Monica creates a vivid and energetic painting that will add dimension and a pop of color to any space.

This sculptural painting is created on a gallery-wrapped canvas that is painted on all four sides. The painting can be hung both vertically and horizontally - what the buyer prefers.

Monica has been featured in various publications including the Washington Post, Popular Photography, Create magazine, and the Huffington Post. In 2022 she was invited to join the National Association of Women Artist. In 2019 she was named "Best Artist" in Westchester by Westchester magazine. Her work has been shown at the American Academy of Arts and Letters in New York City, Photo LA, the National Arts Club in NYC, Art Market Hamptons, PULSE Art Fair, and the New York Mercantile Exchange, among others.
