Authentic low table (Chabudai) from Japan, Meiji Era (1867-1890).
Lacquer technique used: Negoro Lacquer.
The lacquer layer of the table top shows cracks that follow the pattern of the wood underneath. The table itself is structurally fully sound and stable and functional. We think these signs of age are entirely in keeping with the Japanese Wabi Sabi atmosphere and give this table a story.
Beautifully designed legs, underside of the table is lacquered black.
Dimensions: height 34 cm, diameter 89 cm.
