This is a large charming domed top, sarcophagus shaped Swedish style marriage chest. This chest is richly decorated with beautiful hand-painted original designs. It is monogrammed on the front and dated 1820. The chest is painted a black with hints of blue and green, and it is bound in lovely original decorative ironwork. The overall condition of this piece of history is exceptional with normal signs of age and use. The right hinge is missing one nail. The construction of this piece is robust, sturdy, and strong. A rough keyhole adds character.
