* All of our antique & vintage rugs are professionally cleaned prior to being listed.*
BY FAR the most difficult types of Antique Persian Rugs to photograph because the pixels on the screen and phone do not translate to the clarity of the design and the fineness of the knots in the rug - so, some of the photos could look a bit blurry or pixilated, especially the first main picture. I will admit, it wasn't the sunniest day when I photographed this one, but remember that if you have a lot of natural light in your space, this fine wool and natural dyes will pick that up and glow. So these pictures are accurate in color, but the "feel" of the rug is a little airier and sifter than the pics make it appear, in these pics, there is a moodiness but in actuality, it's softer.
Another quick note - THIS IS NOT the trendy acid-washed junk you will find on the Internet. This is original, untouched, genuine patina, sincere age, natural dyes, and a true antique Persian rug. The trendy "vintage rugs" that are distressed and try and emulate this piece are the copies, the "fakes" and the wannabes (and somehow they are usually more expensive than the real ones! I couldn't make it up!). Anyway, I just wanted you to know that most of the time true antiques don't come in this softer color palette because most of the time the weavers wanted to show off the rich, deep, bright, and beautiful natural dyes from the lands, but in the few exceptions they used softer dyes and dried the batches of wool out under the sun for longer periods of time to get a lighter hue, as well as time will soften the dyes of the rug naturally - we refer to this as the dyes "maturing".
Name: STUNNING Antique Persian Kermanshah - Lavar | UNIQUE Color Palette - Denim, Ice, Indigo, Berry, Caramel, Copper, Camel | 11 x 14
Size: 11.3 x 14
Age: Antique; C. 1920
Pile: Low and distressed throughout with genuine age-related wear - Over 100 Years of patina with the typical wear you see on these specific types of pieces. There are areas in this rug that are worn down enough that we are going to secure to reinforce and give the rug the attention it deserves. There are areas patches of burlap-like material on the back of the rug that has been placed to also help the most distressed parts. So, clearly whoever had this piece for 100+ years cherished it so much they continued to responsibly attend to it.
About: THE MOST BEAUTIFUL 100+-year-old Kermanshah-Lavar we've ever seen woven in this style. Usually, you don't find them in this color palette - you will find much more true reds, scarlets, and more of a brick-rust - and NEVER with this incredible ice-blue Denim color as the color of the field!!! The 4 Corner spandrels are delicately designed with a beautiful Berry, an incredible Linen color, and those soft Caramel hues like the arabesque vines surrounded by flora and leaves. Both Gaurd borders that flank the main border are made of Copper with abrash of rusty hues and back to Copper - so so good. This piece has a great body and is a bit of a DIVA - it is drop-dead gorgeous and in better shape than most of these antique rugs woven in this specific part of the country, however, if you're planning to use this in your highest traffic area, I would say go with a different piece. This is PERFECT for a bedroom because most of the main wear will be covered up, or in the dining room as the table will cover the most worn areas as well. If you do use it in a living room, den, or office, just make sure you are minding. There are only two relatively noteworthy parts and they can both be minimized by a coffee table etc. All in all, we are securing those areas for you so it will not be super bad at all, but I always error on the side of being overly cautious even when it's unnecessary. These pieces have lived over 100 years and they very much have another century to go!! I have to reiterate this point one more time - that we will never see another piece from this family in this size/color/age combo again!!
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available.
Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.
Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!
We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
