We carry authentic Antique rugs and VIntage rugs that are truly one of a kind made all by hand with organic dyes and natural hand-spun wool. These mystical pieces have all been professionally cleaned prior to being listed and ready to use. Our entire collection is carefully curated with an extremely picky and discerning eye that captures the heart and soul of these weavers, and the story they share in their nomadic masterpieces.
Name: MASTERPIECE TABRIZ | Over 1M KNOTS | Fine Silk Highlights with Royal Bird Motifs
Size: 9.7 x 13.6
Age: Vintage, C. 1950's
Pile: Medium pile, nearly mind condition from top to bottom. Lots of rare abrash which isn't found often in these fine city pieces. Like most top-notch pieces from this city, it has two leatherbound stips that run along the backside of the binding; this was strictly done for super fine city rugs to add a bit more body to the sides to prevent them from curling in because the rugs are so tightly woven. The leather on this piece is all original with some areas slightly disconnected, but it's amazing to still see it there.
About: ABSOLUTELY MASTERPIECE - this piece is constructed of WELL OVER 1 Million knots!!!! It took YEARS to weave this masterpiece. This rug is made of organic lamb wool accompanied by very fine silk highlights derived from the Caspian Sea. Nowhere else will you find the poetic nature of these finely detailed pieces with this stark abrash. Abrash is not a "city rug thing", it is a nomadic village and tribal rug element, rarely do we see them in pieces this fine. So, to have some abrash in these pieces is one thing, but to have THIS MUCH ABRASH in this type of rug is on a whole other level. Mauve meets soft berry soar throughout this piece horizontally separating dye lot from dye lot unfolding and telling the viewer the story in real-time. Look closely and you will see royal birds often in pairs; could they be Love-Birds? Could they be protectors of this piece? Or could they simply be at the 4 edges of the rug singing in harmony with the delicate vines amongst the gorgeous colored flora that surrounds them? This is Classical weaving at its best - nowhere else will you find this type of vine work where every single line looks like it was drawn with a 1-haired paintbrush. Surrender yourself to this art, and you will forever be indebted to the splendor of rug weaving and benefit from the unmatched, high-octane, pure bliss these weavers exude from their hearts to the very fingertips that tie millions of individual knots just in this piece alone. For the fine art lover, THIS is fine art by way of lamb wool, incredible dyes, and Mother Nature as the subject. 1 of 1 masterpiece.
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one in the world, no others are available.
Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.
