I love exploring the British coast and finding lighthouses. I’m always inspired to paint them. Lighthouses are resilient and stable – no matter how hard the sea crashes against the rocks or how hard the wind blows, they stand strong. They’re a complete contrast to modern day life. Whilst the rest of the world is busy changing (clothes, jobs, houses etc.) the lighthouse represents consistency.
The Point of Ayr Lighthouse, also known as the Talacre Lighthouse, is a Grade II listed building situated on the north coast of Wales, on the Point of Ayr, near the village of Talacre. It was built in 1776 – 247 years old!
