Praeger Publishers Inc., New York, Washington, London. A lively black & white typography rich volume exploring the theories and designs for the cities of the future by architect, urban designer, artist and philosopher Paolo Soleri. 1971. Unpaginated. Hardcover with dust jacket.
Minimal signs of age and use in the dust jacket, otherwise good.
Architect Paolo Soleri coined the term arcology in 1969. He believed that a completed arcology would provide space for a variety of residential, commercial, and agricultural facilities while minimizing individual human environmental impact.
Food & Energy Nexus. As cities grow, farmland is pushed far away from the urban center. As a result, citizens are detached from where and how their meals are sourced. In the urban form of Arcology, the citizens are connected with the production of food in a way that confirms the necessity of robust agriculture systems.
