About the artist;
Gerard Barthélemy was born in Ile-de-France, the cradle of impressionism. He spent his childhood and most of his youth in this luxuriant and varied country graced by the banks of the river Seine and the forest of Fontainebleau. He was deeply influenced in his art by the charm of the region and, from his early teens, strongly attracted by the beauty of the landscape. During this period he met the famous painter Pierre Bonnard who was then at the height of his creativity. The days spent in the studio of the master in Cannet gave a new orientation to the expression of his art. After many years of research and exhaustive studies he found his own style inspired by Cezanne and Marquet whom he greatly admired. He started with watercolors, the gouache and eventually opted for oil paintings. He remained faithful to the landscapes of his youth which he painted with infinite tenderness and sensitivity. His pallet is delicate and restrained and he has a strong command of the grey tones. The elements he prefers are water and sky. Water is deep and pure, a mirror capturing the surrounding images of life, a source of creativity. Whether his skies are cheerful or grey, their poetic stillness brings the whole of nature to life. His country landscapes whether Ile-de-France, Bretagne or Picardie suggest the eternal union of man and supporting nature. He is the subtle interpreter of the blending of the sea, sand and sky of the bay of Somme and of the sturdy boats of the port of Etaples. Because of these qualities, Gerard Barthélemy has become a well known and appreciated painter. His paintings are found in many private collections in France and throughout the world. less

Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).
- On approved returns, the buyer is responsible for the full cost of return packing and shipping.
Cancellations
- Prior to shipping or local pickup, buyers may cancel an order for any reason, with the exception of some Made-to-Order items, where supplies have been purchased or work begun on the item.

- Deliveries can take anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks to be delivered.
- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.

- Chairish Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.

- Chairish In-Home Delivery
