REGENCY MAHOGANY HUNT TABLE
CIRCA 1810
The demi-lune top forming a crescent, each end united by a brass rail.
This table was designed to be placed near a fireplace and used for after-dinner drinks. Such tables were also used by riders gathering outside for a drink before or after a hunt. George Hepplewhite published a design in 1793 for a 'Gentlemen's Social Table'.
The four outer legs have brass casters which work very well. The two leaves have a strong support when extended. An excellent example of a period hunt table sold at Christie's London.
