Carved from a substantial piece of teak, the figure features an elaborate pointed headdress, delicately modeled facial features and stylized ornamental details. The warm, aged surface and natural variations in the wood give the sculpture wonderful depth and character.

The elongated proportions make the piece particularly effective as architectural wall decoration, while the serene expression and intricate carving reflect the long tradition of devotional and decorative wood carving in Bali and Indonesia.

Previously described as both Thai and Balinese, the carving is more conservatively identified here as Balinese/Indonesian based on its carving style and construction. No maker's mark or documentation establishing a specific workshop has been found.

The precise age is unknown; the piece is conservatively dated to the mid-20th century rather than assigning an unsupported earlier date.

A distinctive piece of vintage Southeast Asian carved wood art with strong sculptural presence despite its narrow profile.
