Ghilchik (b. 1892 Romania; d. 1972 … more Beautiful C. 1940s painting of contemplative woman in Cotswold village, England by David L. Ghilchik (b. 1892 Romania; d. 1972 London). Signed lower right "Ghilchik." Oil paint on wood panel. Presented in rustic wood frame. Image measures: 14.5"H x 17.5"W. With frame, measures: 21"H x 25"W x 2"D. David Louis Ghilchik was a painter, and cartoonist for Punch Magazine and the Daily Sketch. He was the son of Abraham Josef Ghilchik, who traded in lace and linen, and his wife Sali. The family settled in Salford in 1920, where David enrolled at the Manchester School of Art and studied under Adolphe Valette from 1907 to 1915. At the School he met fellow student Josephine Matley Duddle (1890 to 1981), marrying her in Chelsea in the last quarter of 1915. David continued his studies at the Slade School of Fine Art under Henry Tonks and Ambrose McEvoy. During World War I he served as a truck driver on the Italian front. He took part in the 1928 and 1932 Summer Olympics, competing for Great Britain in the mixed painting, drawing and watercolour categories. He also exhibited his oil paintings widely, notably at the Royal Academy, the New English Art Club and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. His style is thought to have been influenced by Christopher Wood. less

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).

Cancellations

- Chairish Express In-Home deliveries are currently only offered for international cross-border shipments.
- The item will be delivered to your home and placed in the desired room. The delivery service includes unpacking, inspecting, and removing packaging materials; and does not include installation or setting up the item.
- Shipping charges start at $999 and vary based on the size, weight, packaging, and/or the value of the item.
- Deliveries can take anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks to be delivered.
- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.
- You will need tools and/or equipment to open the crate.

- Chairish Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.
