This incredible large & delicate piece of California … more The ultimate real deal & incredibly rare iconic starburst mid-century atomic ashtray. This incredible large & delicate piece of California Pottery hearkens back to it's 1960's MCM roots with authentic gold flecked dimensional stars on a creamy white ceramic background. The entire surrounding scalloped edges are also gold flecked, glistening in any light and making it a demanding conversation piece even when not used. The rear is marked "Calif. Orig. U.S.A. 742". Designed to sit amidst a coffee table surrounded by guests, it has an oblong design to reach towards all sides and those around it. The deep impressions to hold rolled smokables are large enough to accommodate cigarettes, cigars and your finest doobies all in one safe locale. I was SO excited when I found this at a Palm Springs estate sale. I especially love that it is a more thin & delicate piece- not like so many of the traditional thick & heavy pottery items of that day. The impeccable details are so fine it could easily be used at an elegant holiday party or event. You simply will not find a more apropos ashtray to suit the finest modern decor.

It is so incredibly cool I have to believe it was only a statement display piece.
