Flowers - Oil on canvas cm. 100x80, Carlo De Tommasi, Italy, 2009.
Gold leaf gilded and mahogany lacquered wooden frame.
The painting is inspired by one of the canvases of the Belgian painter Ambrosius Bosschaert, his flower bouquets are painted symmetrically and with scientific precision, usually in small sizes. They often include hidden meanings, where each flower represents a symbolic meaning. Bosschaert became one of the first artists to specialize in still lifes, and in doing so he created a tradition of artwork featuring realistic bouquets of flowers, usually tulips, roses and exotic species.
