This greatly distressed piece features a large … Read more Antique carved wood piece, a large architectural salvage fragment dating to the 1700s. This greatly distressed piece features a large flying angel on top, a small shelf, and a winged cherub with flowers and leaves below. It was purchased at the Paris flea market in the 1970s and was reported to be a part of the Hotel de Ville, Paris's city hall. It has a fair amount of termite damage, particularly on the shelf part (see photos). There are also a few cracks (a large one through the shelf, and another through the cherub), plus some broken off pieces. In the back, you can see the heads of three large iron nails holding the shelf in place. Despite all these issues, it's holding together well and, though it might lose a little wood along the edges, it fares well in a stationary position on a wall. See less
