moreHans Wegner. Arne Jacobsen. Børge Morgensen. These designers, amongst others, are celebrated as the innovators of Danish Modern furniture. It is a design aesthetic that flourished in the 50s and 60s, and retains its popularity today. Morgensen originally designed the 2213 three-seat sofa for himself, but then revisited the design to create the 2212 two-seater, shown here. Morgensen’s offerings can still be found in marvelous condition, because of the insistence on a selection of only the finest materials. Frederica, the company that manufactures the original 2212, states that “the framework is solid hardwood; there is a carefully measured ratio of foam to feather in the cushions. The bull hides used at Frederica are of the highest calibre.” This sofa was created by Stouby Polsterfabrik of Denmark of high-quality leather with a beech-wood frame and legs. Cushions are top filled with down. It has a wonderful settled-in quality that speaks of enduring comfort. less
