This vintage 4x14 Persian kilim is a tribal gallery runner—handwoven in wool, it’s believed to originate circa 1950-1960.
Further on the Design:
The design prefers multicolor medallions on a red open field, wrapped in rich brown and off-white borders. This gallery runner is one of a rare series R&K Principal Josh Nazmiyal has curated with extra-long size and rich colors. It’s a rare choice for this provenance, and an exemplar in Persian tribal rugs as well.
Connoisseurs may note this piece is suspected to be a Shahsavan rug, as it has similar traits to that provenance.
Further on the Condition:
This mid-century Persian Shahsavan flat weave further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
