moreRare 17th century Italian Florentine Hand Carved Upholstered Walnut Side Chair. The chair was upholstered in the 19th century as shown. The hand turned and carved wood has a lovely patina with antique worm holes also as shown. The pegged construction is also of note. A similar chair can be found referenced in the book "il mobile del rinascimento" re: The Collection of Herbert Percy Horn by Claudio Paolini: Page 119. The chair is sturdy and useable, however, for an item of this age care should always be taken with it's use. The chair also makes a great display stool for old books or accessories.
