Late 1800s unusual antique baked custard pottery set of 5 contains silver plate serving holder for each. The holders are legibly imprinted with a circular Riverton Silver Co Philadelphia trademark. (This company went out of business in 1899.)There is diamond shaped metal piercing decoration encircling the holders. Also a large, blank diamond shape suitable for engaving appears on one side of the silver holders. Three raised “feet” domes elevate each holder. Holders diameter is 3.25 inches, with the handle the width is 4.75 inches.
The ceramic cups have caramel to cinnamon brown colored glazed exterior sides, continuing over top lip edge, with off white to almond/tan glazed interiors. The unglazed brick red clay
base is printed with “L.S.&S. N.Y. Luxembourg.”
This charming little custard cup set was inherited.
The set of 5 cups & holders (10 pieces) is priced at $40. Individual cup/holder set is $10 each.

The silver plate … moreThis unique set of custard cups is in excellent condition for its over 120 year old age. The silver plate holders’ tarnish has given them a charming patina appropriate to their age. There are a couple tiny edge area chips in the cups’ glaze, the largest of which is shown in the last photo. A tan colored interior glaze due to age is seen in one cup. These imperfections do not affect use. less
