"Modern Art Movements" by Trewin Copplestone (rev. ed., Paul Hamlyn Ltd., London, 1967) is a vintage hardcover art book on the controversial paintings of the 20th century. With 54 vibrant color plates, the book explores the roots of modern art and six major movements: Fauvism, Cubism, Expressionism, Futurism, De Stijl, and Surrealism. The book also focuses on significant artists, including Matisse, Picasso, Braque, Mondrian, and Kandinsky.
The book is in very good condition, with a little corner wear on the cover and lightly tanned pages. The pages are clean and unmarked, except for a small pencil number on the front fly leaf. The colors are still brilliant, the binding tight. The dust jacket is also in very good condition, with just some edge wear (mostly at the top), a few small tears at the top spine, and a spot of chipping on the back of the spine.
