This piece draws on Tudor works of the ‘grotesque’ 16th century period, and the regal pictorials that period enjoys. Connoisseurs will note that our take enjoys the first high-and-low texture ever seen in this style. This element lends a sophisticated sense of depth to the masterly portrait of gold on black, and sits gorgeous underfoot.

Keen eyes will further admire a variety of pseudo-Helenistic imagery, and especially sphinx depictions in the many pictorial patterns.
