Bronze with dark brown patina, on sea green marble base, signed J. Garnier on the terrace.
Jean Garnier (1853 - 1910), is a sculptor, enameller, chisler, of Vendée origin. Self -taught with complete knowledge and recognized by his peers, he also signals enamel jewelry.
"Diane Chasseresse" is a work representing the Roman goddess of hunting, war and night, in her simplest aircraft, only dressed in a long draped with the wind.
She brandishes her bow, the knee placed on a rock.
Her hair is haloed by the emblem of the moon which she protects.
Diane, a feminist figure, inspired many courtesans, such as Diane de Poitier, who saw in her only force and conviction.
The artist highlights feminine courage, through this mythological work, striking of realism.
