The original work is a carrare marble statue, produced by Guillaume Coustou (1677-1746), dating from the 18th century, which decorated the drinkers of the Château de Marly, it is today exhibited at the Louvre.
This group is made up of two elements and a mechanical clock in Rotor.
We find on the latter a taming palefrenier, from the end of its lanyard, two horses in the cabe position.
The base of the clock is adorned with two women's heads at the angles, with garland below and bundle on both sides.
The two subjects are based on a rectangular base, bodied around and embellished with acanthus leaves on the feet.
Majestic and charismatic, this fireplace garnish, which takes over an emblematic work of France, will delight amateurs and collectors of works of art.
