A very rare pair of French art deco lamps made around 1930 by Pierre Maynadier. The nickel plated bronze or solid brass Maynadier bases hold shades in clear frosted molded pressed glass by the Société Parisiennne de Verrerie (SPV). These extremely rare shades are always signed but the signature is often almost invisible. It reads ESPAIVET which in French is phonetic for SPV. A small glass company producing mainly perfume bottles.
The lamps are 29 cm (11,4 inches) high and the shades have a diameter of 15 cm (5,9 inches). The pair is in excellent condition. Some molding irregularities like an air bubble can be seen in the glass. I replated and patinated the bases and the lamps are rewired with new twisted rayon covered cord, new plugs and switches. For the USA Canada or Japan I placed American candelabra base ones and US 2-prong plugs.
