Vintage: C.1950's-60's, Asian-Style Chinoiserie, hand-painted, porcelain ginger jar, lamp with Monkey motif, a nod to the well know Painter exact … Read more Vintage: C.1950's-60's, Asian-Style Chinoiserie, hand-painted, porcelain ginger jar, lamp with Monkey motif, a nod to the well know Painter exact painting by William Skilling. whom this likeness was carried of and attributed to. It showcases a Colonial era clothes Monkey with a musical instrument, sitting upon a log like at a campfire with the ensuing vision of entertaining a female paramour of sorts, with the lush backdrop and surroundings of palm fronds, while roses are spread upon the ground, but most likely a tropical oasis and the lure of music in the air for his love. A Gump's Department Store from San Fransisco, Ca. as this and these types of lamps were produced in Asia for the American Marketplace, and exclusively for Gump's. Lamp was mounted on a rosewood Asian-style base and original to its production. Original sticker is affixed with the production number, model number and such, as we chose to leave the original sticker affixed for age and provenance. Brass socket, harp and final all original to the piece as well. From an Upstate, NY Estate.
