We love this work's contrasting shades of oranges and purples, complemented by the aged gold gesso frame. Work and frame both date from the 1920s-1940s. Framing materials including the mat and backer board are all new and acid-free. The painting is executed on off-white heavy art paper, unsigned, from a portfolio of works obtained from her estate.

Ruth Fulda Wacker was a 20th C. American painter, with a broad body of work including still life, portraiture, landscape, and wildlife subjects. She often worked with and alongside her much renowned artist uncle, Carl Rungius, who is particularly noted for his drypoint etchings of wildlife. The antique giltwood and gesso frame shows desirable signs of age, though nothing that detracts from the overall presentation of the piece. We note one small 1/2" long bit of missing detail at the top right corner, see picture. If you would prefer a different framed look, this piece can be changed readily to any standard 11" x 14" frame of your choice. It would look great in any antique frame, or even in an ultra minimalist modern frame, depending on your personal taste. See less
