commissions for movie advertisements, stage sets, and murals in New Hampshire.
Armand Szainer was one of the founders of The Studio Potter magazine. Born in Poland in 1914 and raised in Germany before emigrating to Paris in 1933, he studied art and worked as a theater set designer. He came to New Hampshire with his wife Sylvia Kostmann in the early 1950s. They built a new life in Manchester where Szainer worked as a graphic artist and taught art at St. Mary's College, New Hampshire Institute of Art, and Notre Dame College. The papers of Armand Szainer contain publications, correspondence, photographs, and ephemera documenting Szainer's family in early 20th century Europe, as well as his commissions for movie advertisements, stage sets, and murals in New Hampshire.
