This sofa is exclusive to me, I have pair of armchairs by George Smith listed under my other items in the same fabric. This sofa is an exact copy of an original Howard & Son's sofa. The bulk of the money goes into the carving on the frame, it is sublime, you have oversized claw and ball feet to the front and rear with elegant panels in between. The sofa itself is a large size by modern day standards, it has overstuffed feather-filled cushions to the base which are very comfortable, the back cushions have a mixture of feather and fibre, the reason being is if you just have feathers they sag and squash downwards, this will retain their shape and offer the same level of comfort, fibre cores also require less plumping. The sofa has been meticulously upholstered so the pattern repeat along the top of the cushion runs perfectly to the front and then on to the frame, the arm panels match and so on, this is fine upholstery at its best. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
