an abstract artist, he belongs to the madi movement, of which he is one of the most renowned french representatives.

roger neyrat, as soon as he graduated from the ecole des beaux-arts in paris, became fascinated by the madi movement, an abstract geometric art movement which, among other things, constructs the painting outside the frame and its flatness.

the centre de recherches et d'etudes madistes welcomed him in 1951. He worked there with volf roitman and pierre alexandre among others.

in 1953, he officially joined the madi movement and participated in most of the group exhibitions of the painters in this group.

he left the madi study and research center in 1958, to concentrate on his own artistic elaboration of the madi principles.

he regularly exhibited with carmen-quin, the founder of the madi movement, notably at the alexandre la salle gallery in vence.

we also owe him the retranscription of the cave paintings of tassili, in the sahara desert, in 1957.

in 1993, at the château de saint cirq lapopie, neyrat was part of the exhibition "madi" (1993), with arden quin, and, among others, salvatore presta, faucon, roitman, bolivar, froment, girodon and aeschbacher.

his studio was located in la celle saint-cloud. His works can be found in all the international madi museums, and notably in the museum of geometric and madi art in dallas (usa).
