Monica uses her materials, specifically thick layers of oil paint and oil pastel, as an active participant in the paintings that explore a yearning to connect with each other after living in an extended period of isolation. This painting is inspired by the colors and light of late summer and early fall in the Hudson Valley where she lives and works. An intuitive painter, Monica uses which ever medium will best help her express her ideas and in this piece she explores the various shades and values found in nature by using texture and layers with oil paint. Punctuating her rhythmic, gestural marks with varying shades of blue, pink, green, blue, purple and yellow, Monica creates a vivid and energetic painting that will add dimension and a pop of color to any space.

This mixed media, sculptural painting is created on a gallery-wrapped canvas that is painted on all four sides.

Monica has been featured in various publications including the Washington Post, Popular Photography, Create magazine, and the Huffington Post. In 2019 she was named "Best Artist" in Westchester by Westchester magazine. Her work has been shown at the American Academy of Arts and Letters in New York City, Photo LA, Art Market Hamptons, PULSE Art Fair, and the New York Mercantile Exchange, among others. See less
