The production of the fabric supports the village where it is made, uses no electricity, and provides fair trade employment for more than 50 families. The subtle color and pattern variations and “gaps” are normal, pleasing hints that the fabrics are made entirely by hand. Les Indiennes are widely coveted, timeless designs that can be mixed into just about any décor where there is respect for the textile, especially those that are hand made using centuries-old methods. Ribbon is especially easy to use in its charming but natural colors of taupe on off-white cotton. The pattern placement is slightly different on the front and reverse to make best use of this rescued piece, and bound with natural, unobtrusive, and utterly simple cotton rope.
