Beautiful mid-century Murano sommerso glass ashtray / small bowl - Italy, 1960s. Made of thick blue and clear Murano glass. Can be used as a small bowl, vide poche / catch-all or as an ashtray. Barely readable label/sticker at the bottom (can be removed very easily if needed). Height: 6 cm / 2.4''; diameter (max): 14.5 cm; 5.7''; width: 12 cm / 4.7''; depth: 12 cm / 4.7''. Very good vintage condition.
''Sommerso'' is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s/60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer. This piece has an attribution mark,
