KANDARA (Hindi, meaning: cavern or womb).
Created 2022. Salvaged pecan wood, welded steel base, fire.
Inspired by Nature, the Elements and the Infinite Cosmos, the branch of a massive Texas Pecan tree becomes a very sensual, mysterious object via the Ancient Japanese technique of Yakisugi -- or Shou-sugi-ban, the repeated, deep charring of Wood with Fire. Layers of wood are removed to reveal what was always present.
Sealed with Tried and True non-toxic Beeswax Finish.
Measures approximately 26"H x 14"W x 9"D.
