A set of ten Portuguese dining chairs, comprised of eight side chairs and two armchairs. 6- Mid-18th century, 4 20th century reproductions. Also known as Jacaranda chairs of the period of Jose I. Each with a shaped pierced back surmounted by a plume feather top above floral decorations. The seat which would have originally been upholstered in tooled leather is now covered in vintage Fortuny. The whole is raised on a shaped and carved apron terminating in cabriolet legs with pad feet. The legs are joined by a beautifully shaped stretcher.
The four reproduction chairs are very good reproductions and one can only tell the difference upon very close and careful
examination. The seats of all ten chairs should be recovered to match. There is no Fortuny fabric of the kind I used,
available any longer.
Arm Chair dimensions: 27" W x 48.5" H x 22" D x 20.5" SH x 27.5" AH.
Side Chair dimensions: 21.5" W x 46.5" H x 19.5" D x 20" SH.
