This truly remarkable set comes in its original presentation case. Included are six beautiful porcelain demitasse cups and saucers. The cheerful yellow cups & saucers are trimmed in gold and are by Aynsley's. Aynsley China is synonymous with fine bone china and elegance. The Aynsley brand was established by John Aynsley in 1775, in Staffordshire, UK. One of Aynsley’s most popular patterns was even ordered by Queen Mary. What sets these wonderful cups apart from the rest is the intricately pierced sterling holder on each cup, designed with gracefully curling vines by George Jackson & David Fullerton.
Also included is the elegant sterling coffee or teapot by Brook & Son. It is surmounted by a finial on its domed lid, which opens to reveal a built in strainer. The clean lines of the body showcase the curved ebonized handle with a scrolled thumb mount. Last, but not least, are six lovely sterling demitasse spoons by William Hutton & Sons Ltd.
The Aynsley's Porcelain Mark dates these porcelain cups and saucers to 1891 - 1910.
Sterling Holder Marks: "GJDF" (George Jackson & David Fullerton of London), Lion Passant, Leopard & "P" (1890 - 1910). The 925/1000 (sterling) silver fineness is certified in London and other British Assay Offices by the use of the "Lion Passant" mark
Teapot Marks: "B&S" (Brook & Son 1890 - 1920), Thistle, "W" & "D". In Edinburgh, the Scottish capital, a thistle mark was used since 1759 until 1974 to guarantee sterling silver. The "D" mark dates this teapot to 1910. The bottom of the teapot is marked: "Brook & Son, 87 George Street, Edinburgh."
Sterling Spoon Marks: Crown (City of Sheffield), Lion Passant (Sterling), "S" (1910) &
"SS W H & LD" (William Hutton & Sons Ltd.) This mark was used between 1893 - 1913

Please see all the photos for further clarification on condition and feel free to ask any questions that aren't answered here. Antique items have been previously owned and loved and will show some level of wear consistent with this prior use. There are chips in two of the cups, along the top edge, where the sterling holder meets the porcelain. These chips are shown clearly in photos #8, #11 & #12. There are hairline cracks on a few of the cups, the most noticeable two are shown in photos #11 & #12. The yellow has different natural grades of coloration and the gold trim has some small areas of wear. The ebony handle on the teapot has small areas of wear. The sterling holders are attached securely to four of the cups. The other two cups can be removed easily from the holders. Recently polished, but the sterling has some minor oxidation. If I have missed something in my inspection of these items, please contact me. The photos serve as an additional description.
