This lovely narrow table was produced from elm wood at the start of the twentieth century in Shandong province, south of Beijing. This style of table is commonly referred to an altar tables as long, narrow tables were typically placed against the end wall of the main reception room in a Chinese home and used to display offerings to ancestors. This one is simply styled in a classic design and has attractive 'cloud head' carved spandrels towards the top of each leg. Clouds were a common motif in Chinese paintings and also popular carvings in furniture, with the word in Chinese for cloud ('yun') is synonomous with the word for luck or fortune.
The finish has been beautifully restored with a dark lacquer and varnish which brings out the wonderful grain and character of the wood.
Today this handsome table would be a real statement piece as a large console in a hallway or reception area or could be placed behind a sofa as a large lamp table in a living room.

The Chairish Buyer Guarantee ensures that you have complete peace of mind when

- Prior to shipping or local pickup, buyers may cancel an order for any reason, with the exception of some Made-to-Order items, where supplies have been purchased or work begun on the item.
- Please notify us within 24 hours of purchase if you would like to cancel an order, as prompt cancellation will reduce the likelihood that you will incur return shipping charges.
- Once shipping or pickup has been initiated, the cancellation will be considered a return and you will be responsible for the cost of shipping.

- Chairish Express In-Home deliveries are currently only offered for international cross-border shipments.
- The item will be delivered to your home and placed in the desired room. The delivery service includes unpacking, inspecting, and removing packaging materials; and does not include installation or setting up the item.

- Deliveries can take anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks to be delivered.
- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.
- You will need tools and/or equipment to open the crate.

- Chairish Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.

- Chairish In-Home Delivery
