This French sculptor is known for his sculptures of allegorical scenes that are characterized by a sense of movement and an impressive expressive touch.
"The Spring" is a poetic work featuring a sensual young woman, naked under a light, transparent veil, leaning against a fountain. Her delicate, smiling face, surrounded by fine curls, touches the water flowing in a small waterfall. Her gaze is on pretty flowers that she holds gently in her slender fingers. She seems to admire them enjoying the freshness of the water that runs along her body.
Surrounded by reeds, the spring fills a large basin from which the water flows indefinitely as a metaphor for eternal youth.
