We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects.
Hand-cut and ground red crystal bottle; an excellent lead crystal was used for its execution, which gives the crystal itself a high refractive index; with hand-crafted manual techniques of cutting, grinding and polishing, the surface of the bottle creates extraordinary plays of light and reflections; with handcrafted manual techniques of cutting, grinding and polishing, the surface of the bottle creates extraordinary plays of light and reflections; it has a faceted oval cap with a stem; the coloring of the crystal affects only the outside and was achieved by the addition of metal oxides and pigments (in this case copper oxide and gold chloride were added to obtain a very intense ruby hue) just during casting to make sure that the color was then uniform; the master glassmakers then molded the final shape of the bottle, once it had cooled, they cut and ground the entire body by hand in a decorative manner with meticulous care using small circular stone grinding wheels; in doing so, a fascinating and pleasing contrast was created between the ground, transparent and polished parts and the rest of the colored bottle; at the end, the bottle was polished with a cork bark wheel wet with a mush of water and pumice, and lastly the polishing stage, which was achieved with a felt wheel wet with a mush of water, iron oxide and cerium oxide. Our bottle with its delightful and graceful shape tells us these wonderful stories; it is an object with a unique identity full of elegance and refinement. It was created between 1930 and 1935 in a craft workshop in the district of Nancy (France), famous for its high concentration of factories and artisans specializing in crystal work (Daum, Baccarat, Saint Louis, etc.); crystal with a percentage of more than 30 percent lead oxide ( a material, developed in England by George Ravenscroft in the second half of the 17th century), which is very bright and transparent, was used in its making. The bottle is in good condition. Measures diameter cm.9, height cm.42. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
