This would have been a very expensive piece in its day and the height of sophisticated travel. This piece has an amazing patination that can only be achieved through honest age and genuine use. The trunk has the original army & navy c.l.s plaque at the back which also reads london bombay calcutta which is most likely where they had stores at that time the trunk was owned by cf bell, as you can see his name has been painted on, this is a campaign trunk so has seen some service hence the condition! this is a decorator's piece and really sets a mood, it can be used laying down as a large coffee table of course which is what most people do, they make great conversation pieces. Condition is period and wonderfully patinated dimensions height:- 52.5cm width:- 89cm depth:- 54.5cm please note all measurements are taken at the widest point condition please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
