Authentic 1920s - 1940s fashion plate, likely originally from either a portfolio or a book, that has been framed circa 1970 in a simple chrome metal frame. The long evening gown illustrated features a bias cut front with a dramatic pleated multi-color train in the back. We love the necklace styled to hang down the model's back, as well as the chair and bamboo plant as props to suggest a salon setting. Think Old Hollywood or Paris, France glamour!
Marked as Plate 9 in upper right corner, and labelled "Zimmermann" in upper left. The plate itself is an original print from the period, and does show some light surface marks, please see photos. The unique double cut mat with deco corners and metal frame likely date to the 1970s. Frame has some fine surface scratches on the top rail, as pictured.
